IN MEMORIAM A USEFUL UNIVERSITY REPOSITORY

repository@napier

Edinburgh Napier’s first repository was based on ePrints and extended to provide quote excellent feedback to researchers. REC and Research Office needs saw this discontinued, and a bought in systems with a very different phiilosophy was adopted, aimed more at marketing and promotion purposes.

As an in memoriam to a repository that positively encouraged researchers to use it and go back to it for feedback, a couple of the last screenshots taken in 2016are here. as a tribute the library staff who created and populated them and built this original extended ePrints system

The first shot shows the research unit (TRi) time profiles of downloads and the top 5 dowloaded papers (mine is actually an AUSTROADS Australian report, which was downloaded more from here than from anywhere else)

The second shows my personal profiles, over time and in terms of levels of (downloads and hits)  papers of interest.

These statistics differ substantially from my SelectedWorks,Academia, Researchgate, and Google Scholar pages, and the combination gives a good insight into how and where my works are being looked at and read. The very differences are an important factor, and so it is a pity these diagrams and data are no more at Napier!
